Institution's goal is to educate children spiritually, academically, physically, socially and emotionally. Teachers guide students through a challenging curriculum supported by developmentally appropriate activities and multi-sensory teaching methods. Students are encouraged to discover their individual strengths, explore their God-given talents and, through the school's flexible and sequential learning program, strive for academic success.
From building bridges to creating catapults to designing a house that will withstand an earthquake, CMDS students are exposed to a STEAM Initiative that forms the foundation of the academic curriculum. Rather than teach science, technology, engineering, art and math in a vacuum, the STEAM program integrates these subjects in an inquiry-based, hands-on curriculum that more closely aligns with what students will experience in high school, college and the workforce.
CMDS' Encore program expands and complements the school's core curriculum. Students never spend a whole day with one teacher in their homeroom. They are instead immersed in an elementary, liberal-arts style experience. Visit choosecmds.org/encore to read full class descriptions.
CMDS is solely focused on cultivating an authentic elementary experience. As a primary school, all resources are invested for the development of young children. As a co-ed school, CMDS is more reflective of the real world and provides opportunities for friendships between boys and girls, who have the opportunity to collaborate and solve problems together.
By the time a student graduates from CMDS, he or she has engaged in a comprehensive study of the Bible. The weekly Encore class' curriculum is taught on a continuous rotation that ensures every CMDS student covers every book. Throughout their years at CMDS, students are taught and encouraged to vocalize their faith. As the culmination of that instruction, each sixth grader chooses a life verse and shares their personal faith story with the entire class.
