Collierville Middle School has earned straight A's for three consecutive years for Academic Achievement in math, science, and reading.
Students from the CMS Jr.Beta Club competed at the state convention in Nashville of 150 schools and over 5,000 students competing in academic and art-based competitions. Out of 16 competition categories, CMS students won first place in pen/pencil drawing, recycled art, spelling, living literature, technology/video, and visual design.
Collierville Middle School received a $25,000 grant from the America's Farmers Grow Rural Education to enhance their existing garden built with students, parent and teacher input. Plans are to add a pavilion and shed to house gardening materials as well as a chicken coop. Students develop experiments, plant crops and collect data to be analyzed at a later date.
Collierville Middle School PTA was awarded the National PTA School of Excellence Award for 2015-2017.
In the fall of 2015, Collierville implemented STEM Scholars which consists of a cohort-based program offering a specially-designed, STEM-intensive, three-year program of study for twenty-four incoming sixth graders. A new cohort of students will be added each year. Collierville Middle STEM teachers wrote and received a grant to establish a state-of-the-art $22,000 STEM lab with the work stations, equipment, materials, and activities current and future STEM students will utilize.
Extracurriculars: The following extracurricular activities are available to students at CMS: Art Club, Band, Basketball, Bible Club, Battle of the Books, Cheerleading, Cross-Country Running, Drama, FCA, Golf, Harry Potter Club, Honors Orchestra, Junior Engineering, Junior Beta, Kindness Revolution, Lacrosse, Lego Club, Math Counts, Pep Club, Pom, Robotics Team, Scrabble, Soccer, Softball, Student Council, Volleyball, Wildlife Club, and Yearbook.
Gifted Education: Collierville Middle offers enriched and APEX classes at all grade levels. High school courses such as physical science and Algebra I are also offered. STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) is offered to 6th and 7th graders this year, with 8th grade joining the program next year.
Parent Involvement: CMS parents are involved in many aspects of school life, such as PTA and Booster Clubs.
