Students are assigned homework every night and are required to attend after school tutoring, intervention and homework support.
Curriculum and culture are focused solely on literacy and college readiness. Social work supports are also in place to help students and families from a social perspective.
Focus on parental involvement; homework requires a parent signature, parents are contacted if teachers see a slip in attendance or academic performance, grade reports go out weekly and progress reports at the midpoint of each quarter.
A member of faculty greets all students individually every morning with a firm handshake and asks if the student is ready to start the day. Teachers care about student success and achievement.
Students receive more than seven hours of teacher-led instruction throughout the school day with additional time reserved for self-guided reading.
Extracurriculars: Enrichment during school hours, PE classes, Girl's Scout after school, Healthy Eating Program, Girl's Inc after school
Gifted Education: Additional programming is provided for gifted students.
Special Education: A more inclusive model is provided, and students are supported through a Special Populations program, no matter their IEP.
Parent Involvement: Parent/Teacher Organizations, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Open Houses, Family Nights, STAND, Volunteer Opportunities, Memphis Lift
