Students are assigned homework every night and are required to attend after-school tutoring, intervention, and homework support.
Curriculum and culture are focused solely on literacy, math mastery, and college readiness. Social work supports are also in place to help students and families from a social perspective.
Focus on parental involvement; homework requires a parent signature, and parents are contacted if teachers see a slip in attendance or academic performance; grade reports go out weekly and progress reports are distributed at the midpoint of each quarter.
A member of faculty greets all students individually every morning with a firm handshake and asks if the student is ready to start the day. Teachers care about student success and achievement.
Students experience a structured environment, but more relaxed than FPA elementary schools. There is a focus on getting students ready socially for high school before their matriculation.
