All grade levels participate in mindfulness curriculum. Mindfulness is a form of attention or awareness training that can be applied to any activity throughout the day. Its purpose is to increase self-awareness, emotional balance, impulse control, and overall focus
The elementary school choir sings throughout the city, and was recently invited to sing the National Anthem at a Grizzlies game. The middle school choir takes a choir trip annually with several concert stops along the way.
Students participate in school-wide and class service projects benefiting organizations like Catholic Charities, Dorothy Day House of Hospitality, Trezevant Manor, St. Peters Villa, and others.

When we moved to Memphis we were very worried about finding a place for our daughter that would feel like home and take care of her like family. We found these things in ICCS. From the moment we walked into the prek room we knew this was the place for us. We have thrown ourselves into every activity we can volunteer for and our daughter has loved every minute of it. If you are looking for a "family" and not just a school this is the place for you!

We highly recommend ICCS as a school of choice for all area children. My husband and I searched both private and public schools in the Midtown and East Memphis areas and ultimately chose ICCS for our daughter based on the small class sizes, highly diverse student body, and individualized attention to each childĀ?s academic, social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. We began ICCS when our daughter was in Pre-K 3 and we have been highly impressed with her teachers so far. Their interest in developing our childĀ?s whole being matches everything we have wanted in a school environment. The aftercare programs are a major plus for working parents. We have also enjoyed participating in t-ball, soccer, basketball, gymnastics, ballet, and various clubs, all offered on the school campus.

Our daughter has been attending ICCS since Pre-K, and it has been supporting her learning and development in so many positive ways. The community of teachers, parents and students is loving and embracing of diversity. The academics are challenging but not overwhelming. We love the Spanish program, the music classes/choir program, the Mindfulness education, the focus on giving back/community service and the various after-school offerings. We would highly recommend ICCS to anyone!

While this school may outwardly not appear to have the "bells and whistles" of some of its competitors in regard to new buildings, the substance of the teaching and the innovative program set it apart. The Spanish intensive classes in the elementary school, as well as the mindfulness curriculum, are programs that I especially appreciate. The small class sizes mean that the kids get individualized attention, and the campus definitely has a cozy, family-like atmosphere. The principal seems to know each and every child (over 200 I think) by name. I'm very excited to see that in May the school will be breaking ground on a new Early Childhood Center building. This should be the "bells and whistles" that will bring more families to visit that campus and see how special ICCS really is.
