  • Over 150 minutes of literacy instruction in all grades and 195 minutes in grades K-2; each student receives individualized instruction during daily literacy block rotations.
  • Students engage in daily Mindfulness training to build grit, deliberate practice, and persistence and the ability to focus and manage stress.
  • Intensive focus on highly-effective teacher development; the School Leader spends 80% of his time coaching teachers and the coach-to-teacher ratio is 10:1 for accelerated teacher skill growth.
  • Goal is for all students to be "Rhodes Ready" in reading, math, and habits of mind, so that they will be prepared to reach, attend, and graduate from a top-tier university of their choosing.
  • Extracurriculars: MDP partners with community organizations to offer extracurricular programs and activities.
  • Gifted Education: Gifted students will engage in above-grade level enrichment activities during daily intervention blocks
  • Special Education: Inclusion model; two special education teachers push-in to classrooms and also lead daily small-group intervention in reading and math
  • Parent Involvement: Community Saturday is held one Saturday each month to provide resources for parents to engage with their child's education; volunteer opportunities are ongoing (contact Caitlin Streit at; MDP maintains an open-door policy and encourages visitors at any time.
  • Tours: MDP has an open door policy, which means you can tour any day between 7:30 and 4:00 without an appointment
