Anything that matters to children matters to faculty and staff of Shrine School. The priority is for each child served at Shrine School to be given a chance to achieve academically, socially, and emotionally.
Faculty and staff at Shrine School is dedicated to meeting the needs of each and every child served, and have the resources to do so in an extraordinary manner. Shrine School has a very caring and compassionate atmosphere, assuring parents their child is in good hands.
Shrine School has a complete family support staff of 100, including nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educators who help families understand and navigate their child's Individualized Education Plan. The Shrine School Team consistently collaborates to ensure that students' education and IEP goals are met.
Shrine School reaches out to families, asking them to partner with faculty and staff in caring for their children, making policies and guiding practices and, most importantly, creating a safe environment. Partnering with families is one of the most important missions of Shrine School.
Shrine School is fortunate to have two doctorate-level teachers on staff: Dr. Jennifer Blassingame, Adaptive P.E. and Swim Teacher, and Dr. Karyn Christian, Elementary Teacher. Congratulations to both for all their hard work and perseverance!

Parent Involvement: The active Parent Support Group is a source of pride for Shrine School. Our Circle of Friends parent group meets once a month for parents to explore and share community base resources, learn how to help implement their student's IEP, and support each other. Dads, as well as moms, are invited to meetings and are encouraged to join committees and share new ideas. Parents interested in joining this important group should call Charisma Shelton, school counselor, at 901-416-9171 or the main office at 901-416-2400. There are many exciting programs and projects planned for students and families, and parents are invited to join in whenever possible.
Tours: Campus tours of Shrine School are coordinated through the Shelby County Schools Department of Exceptional Children. Tours of Shrine School are conducted based on a student's possible enrollment at Shrine.
