They can hold their own in any conversation/situation. They leave Westminster with a firm grasp on the truth and are prepared for life. My daughter graduated from Westminster Academy last year, and I have been thoroughly impressed with how she has performed and carried herself in her first year at college.

Having moved a good bit, we have experienced several schools both public and private. Westminster has been by far the best. I'm so thankful to have my girls here. We have three daughters with very different personalities and interests. All three have fit in beautifully at this school. Because of the small class size, they're able to get more individual attention from their teachers. Just think how much more teachers can get accomplished during the day with a small class. Unlike most schools, my children are not doing worksheet after worksheet all day. They are actually being taught how to learn not just memorization. This is a Classical Christian school and its a different way of teaching. In addition to getting a great education, the teachers there truly care for my girls. I see it every day.

Westminster has been a wonderful fit for our three elementary age children. Faculty and staff have done a great job infusing a strong academic curriculum with an eternal perspective. We have attended other faith-based schools, but none have been this intellectually robust and spiritually engaging. We have seen this combination engender in our children a love of learning and a strong spiritual foundation both of which will serve them for the rest of their lives. We really appreciate Westminster!

Our family has been a part of the Westminster community going on nine years, and during that time we have come to appreciate the unique qualities of WA compared to any other type of school in the area. A Classical Christian education equips our children with the ability to discern the important questions in learning and in life. They are taught, not to accept information which is fed to them, but to question, seek truth, and find the value in having the information as well as what could and should be done with that information. Starting in 2nd grade the children begin learning about ancient Biblical and Egyptian civilizations and how they affected each other and why this is important for us to know today. An example of this would be from my daughter's 2nd grade science class where she was asked (after mummifying a carrot) if learning about mummification is important when studying either the Bible, History, or Science and why. This is a the beginning of the move to the senior year capstone class where four teachers work with varying disciplines of study (philosophy, Arts, History, Science...) and assign works of literature or case studies to review and come to class ready to share their positions in a discussion format, but not just share but defend those positions and the relevance on them personally, our culture and society. The teachers of this class are theologians, philosophers and other professionals in their fields of expertise. These teachers are diligently helping these young people to stand firm and give a critique of their own environment, which is absolutely invaluable for the upcoming college experience, as well as life in general. Of course, in between the 2nd grade and the senior year, the students will study Greek and Roman civilizations in 3rd, Medieval history in 4th (first test of the year on St. Augustine was a play the children performed and the memorization of the Beowulf poem was phenomenal!). Check out all I have no room to write about...

My two oldest daughters graduated from Westminster and they were prepared for college and the world. The two took very different paths. One is now about to graduate for medical school and the other is a recruiter for Memphis College of Art. I graduated there in 2013. The incredible opportunities the had at Westminster for leadership and deep discussion have laid a solid foundation for them. It served them well in college and is now serving them well in their careers. Awesome facility and the classical model still works regardless of what you may want to pursue.

Our family loves Westminster! The Christ-centered curriculum emphasizes classical methodology - Socratic teaching requiring students to understand concepts and grasp information by exercising their own reasoning skills. Classes in Logic, Rhetoric and Latin teach the skills of sound reasoning, disciplined investigation and persuasive communication--and these are not just taught to high schoolers, but to the elementary age as well. A Westminster education is for parents who are passionate about what their children learn and how they learn it. I wish I could go back to school and learn this way!

I have a Westminster graduate as well as a current 10th grader. My daughter is in her third year of college (nursing school) and has never had a moment of hesitation. She was so well prepared, academically and spiritually, for college. My 10th grader is surrounded by people who actually care about him and want to help him develop all of his gifts to their fullest. We left WA for one year for public school and it was a huge mistake. It made it clear to us that Westminster was the place for us - nothing else compares!

There are so many positive things I could say about this institution. Trying to put myself in the readers shoes, I'll offer up what I think is most beneficial as you consider Westminster. One, your child, following this education, will know how to think, period. And layered on top of that are the skills necessary to promote, defend, and articulate what he/she thinks. Two, this is a community, from the youngest kindergartner to the oldest parent. You and your kids will be plugged into a nurturing community united in a commitment to great education. Third, and finally, Westminster excels at competitions and events outside of school, from Mock Trial to Youth in Government to Wordsmith to the National Latin Exam to National Merit Scholar and so many more. This exposure can further prepare your child for a successful life.

My grade school son went from well above avg at a "good" public school, to just average here. All classes/subjects are considered honors and students are expected to take personal responsibility for their own school work. With that said, my son loves going to school every day. Three things that I especially enjoy about this school are:
1) Science - my son's 3rd grade class dissected a shark, among other things.
2) Theater - my son's 4th grade class performed several plays, requiring students to memorize lines and perform in front of an audience.
3) Parents care - the parents I've met share the same belief that it is their responsibility to educate their children and that school is there to help us, not replace us.

We have been thrilled with our decision to enroll our children at Westminster. This school is committed to teaching children how to become all that God intended them to be. It has a history of emphasizing skills in speaking and critical thinking- tools which translate into many different areas in today's ever-changing world - but is not limited to excellence on these domains alone. While seeking to help the students attain their best, the school itself pursues excellence in teacher and program development. Smaller class sizes mean every student will receive the benefit of this rigorous education.
Teaching kids to think and communicateParent 02/06/2015
Most schools teach content with no context. Westminster teaches that all truth has a transcendent source which inspires thoughtful, clear expression. Our kids (10th grade to 5th grade) have greatly benefited.

I love that our children at Westminster over the past 8 years have experienced why we believe in a Christian worldview and have learned the historical origins of the great ideas of Western civilization. We know this is equipping them with the tools to evaluate and to discern what is best in their future - what is beautiful, true and good. This knowledge/wisdom combined with the skill of rhetoric will help to serve themselves and others as our world continues to change in their future. The faculty and family community reinforce our efforts and love our students. Favorite school activities include: annual Egyptian and Medieval feasts and the Greek Olympics, along with the upper school House system.

Our family stumbled onto Westminster, by chance, when our children were entering 7th and 9th grade. Had I known about this school earlier we would have happily paid every penny in tuition for 12 years. Highly trained and caring teachers went above and beyond to give my children an incredible education that went far beyond our expectations. My children learned how to think, reason, and communicate effectively. As parents we were given excellent counsel, by teachers and staff, regarding college choices and preparations. When the time came both of my girls were well prepared for the next step and received scholarships to their top choice colleges where they are now thriving. But apart from all that, the benefit that took us entirely by surprise was that our children loved school and they loved learning, and they loved their teachers. They developed such close relationships to them that they still come back to visit and the teachers still get excited to hear about their current endeavors.
Westminster gets an A+. I could not recommend it more highly.

These things are important, but true education is primarily about the cultivation of wisdom and virtue in the soul. Your child will be loved, respected, and challenged at WA. And they will be prepared for the future, not because of a high SAT score (although they'll probably have one), but because they've spent the most formative years of their life asking the big questions.
